Although Barabbas plays a key role in the account of the final days of Jesus’ life on earth, we know very little about him other than the few facts that are recorded in the Scripture.

Deveron Helgeson has written an intriguing story about what might have happened before and after the Scriptural account of that fateful night when Barabbas was released from prison and impending death instead of Jesus. The crowd chose him, and Pilate yielded to their demands. What drove Barabbas to insurrection and murder? Did his release from the dreaded punishment of crucifixion change his life at all?
Although this story is fictitious, it could very well have happened. But even it if didn’t happen this way, the story will cause you to wonder about many things, including your own life.
